Mistakes To Avoid When Buying Used Plastic Injection Molding Machines
You may be
looking to buy an injection molding machine if you have decided to try your
luck in the business of manufacturing plastic products. Since new injection
molders can be quite expensive, you may be left with the option of purchasing used
plastic injection molding machines if you are on a tight budget. The following
are some of the mistakes you will need to avoid when purchasing this machine.
The first
mistake you do not want to make is purchasing a used injection molder that is
not working properly. The key to buying dependable used plastic injection
molding machines is choose one that has been properly examined and checked
before being delivered to your company. If you purchase a machine that is not
working properly, you may undergo production loss as a result of multiple
breakdowns.
Another
mistake you do not want to make when purchasing used
plastic injection molding machines is choosing large screw diameters.
Sometimes, big screw diameters can lead to poor quality problems as a result of
material deprivations. When thick screws are used with small shot sizes, the
plastic material takes longer to get warmed by the barrel heaters as compared
to big shot sizes. It is very likely that
material deprivation will happen if the shot size is undersized as compared to
the utmost shot capacity of the injection unit, especially for materials that
are heat sensitive.
Last but not
least, you should not make the mistake of choosing used plastic injection
molding machines that use all-purpose screws. While all-purpose screws have the
advantage of being utilized with most plastic materials, such as PE, PP, nylon
and PET, their drawback is that for a few materials, component types and
efficiency rates will be lesser compared to more superior injection casting
screw designs such as the barrier screw.
